Going Merry is completely different from the older scholarship search engines:

  • Matching - Once you fill out your profile, you are automatically matched with scholarships you are most eligible for.
  • Direct Applications - You can apply directly to multiple scholarships, you never need to leave the site.
  • Autofilled Applications - All of the information from your profile is autofilled into each application, saving you time.
  • Estimated Application Times - Every scholarship has estimated application time to help you prioritize them.
  • Scholarships Grouped By Essay Topics - Scholarships are grouped by common essay topics so you can minimize the number of essays you have to write.


Bandera Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce that we have several opportunities for your high school students. If you know a student who might qualify for these programs, please encourage them to apply. Applicant’s parent(s) or legal guardians must be members of Bandera Electric Cooperative or receive BEC service at their residence.


Government in Action Youth Tour to Washington, DC - 2021

BEC will send four students to Washington, D.C. for an all-expense paid trip, June 13 through June 22, 2021. Winners will be chosen based on the merit of the essay they submit. This includes demonstrating an understanding of the subject matter, originality, composition, grammar and neatness. Application deadline is Monday, January 18, 2021.


The 500 word minimum essay should answer the following question:


Which of the rights guaranteed by the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution do you consider the most important? Explain your answer.


Bandera Electric Scholarship

BEC will award ten $2,500 scholarships to area students. Application deadline is Friday, February 26, 2021.


The 500 word minimum essay should be written based on the following topic:


One of BEC’s Cooperative Principles is Education, Training and Information. How do you plan to use your education, training and information to better your community and/or country?


Winners will be chosen by the New Braunfels Area Community Foundation (NBACF). The NBACF will field all applicants, filter those applicants based on criteria set up by BEC, and administer and monitor all scholarship grants through an anonymous process. More information can be found
